Bandai Namco is currently working on several eagerly awaited games, such as Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO and Little Nightmares 3. Further, it has been hinted that the publisher's next major project involves the development of Ace Combat 8, according to insights from Sega and Atlus leaker known as Midori.
On Twitter, Midori shed light on Bandai Namco's forthcoming ventures in response to inquiries about the cancellation of a Tales of Destiny remake. Midori clarified that Bandai Namco's significant upcoming project is named the "Chronicle project" and is being co-developed with the assistance of studios ILCA and ORCA. Moreover, when another user conjectured that the Chronicle project could be a new Tales game, Midori suggested it is more likely to be Ace Combat 8.
Though this does not constitute official confirmation, the prospect of Ace Combat 8 aligns with previous announcements. In August 2021, Brand Director Kazutoki Kono confirmed the next Ace Combat game and mentioned its use of Unreal Engine 5. Bandai Namco teamed up with ILCA to spearhead the project and even established a new company, Bandai Namco Aces, in 2022 to focus on creating top-tier games that surpass fan expectations.
While details remain under wraps, the anticipation for the official revelation builds, especially with Bandai Namco's confirmed appearance at the Summer Game Fest on June 7th, where more information might finally be unveiled.
