"Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door," originally released for the GameCube in 2004, has made its way to the Nintendo Switch. This beloved classic is up for $59.99 and boasts enhanced visuals, though it operates at 30 FPS. The game remains true to its original narrative and gameplay mechanics.
In this adventure, Mario treks through the areas surrounding Rogueport, a town erected on the ruins of a once-thriving city. Beneath this location lies a hidden treasure sealed by the Thousand-Year Door. To access it, Mario must gather the seven Crystal Stars.
This updated version introduces several new features, such as a badge that allows players to revert to the game's original soundtrack, as well as the ability to switch party members during battles seamlessly. Additionally, players can hone their combat skills at the newly added battle arena by interacting with the Toad Battle Mastery. This is beneficial for mastering attack timings and defensive blocks. For those needing assistance with side quests, Ian Foomus at the Trouble Center offers helpful tips in exchange for coins.
Despite its rich content, the game’s size is relatively modest, requiring only 5.1 GB of storage on the Nintendo Switch.
